The Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Mrs  Rita Maduagwu, has urged wealthy indigenes of the state to support education development.
Maduagwu made the call when the management, staff and students of Martina Chinyere Enidom Education Foundation paid her a courtesy call on Friday in Awka.
She said that for education to attain the desired height, there must be synergy between government and the public.
The speaker noted that the state was recording good results in external examinations and educational competitions due to the giant strides of Gov. Willie Obiano in the sector.
She said that all hands must be on deck in Education funding as the government alone could undertake the task.
She thanked her visitors for the achievements of the foundation.
Maduagwu commended the proprietor of the school for investing in education and urged other wealthy Anambra people to emulate such investment path.
“The wealthy Anambra people should set up education foundation that will assist brilliant but less opportuned children to go to school.
“By providing scholarship, entrepreneurial skills and funds to these indigent but intelligent children in the state, you will end up keeping your treasure in heaven,’’ she said.
Earlier, the chairman of the Foundation, Mr Paul Enidom, expressed his desire to work with the assembly and lovers of education in meeting the objectives of the organisation.
He said that providing scholarship, entrepreneurial skills and funds to indigent intelligent youths in the state remained the foundation’s focus.
Enidom said that excellence and core positive values were prerequisites for its beneficiaries.
In a remark, Mr Charles Ezeani, member, representing Anaocha II Constituency, commended the group for its  genuine efforts towards education development in the state.
Ezeani gave an assurance that the foundation, located in his constituency, would continue to impact positively on the children of the state.
